Retatrutide is an investigational peptide developed by a pharmaceutical company as a multi-receptor agonist for treating obesity and type 2 diabetes. The compound emerged from research into gut-hormone analogues that act on several receptors simultaneously rather than on a single target. Early preclinical work examined how combined activity at three distinct receptors might produce greater metabolic effects than single-receptor compounds. Published phase 2 results have described substantial reductions in body weight among participants, although the compound remains unapproved in most jurisdictions as of the mid-2020s.
Pharmacologically, retatrutide acts as a triple agonist at the glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor, the glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide receptor, and the glucagon receptor. Activation of the first two receptors is associated with improved insulin secretion and reduced appetite. The glucagon receptor component is thought to increase energy expenditure, a mechanism that distinguishes this molecule from dual-agonist compounds. Researchers continue to investigate how the three activities interact and whether the combined profile offers advantages that justify additional clinical testing.
Solid material is generally held at -20 °C or colder, while reconstituted solutions are kept at 2-8 °C and used within a short window. Buffers that maintain a slightly acidic to neutral pH tend to improve short-term peptide stability. Repeated warming and cooling of stock solutions promotes aggregation and should be avoided. Container closures should remain intact, since adsorption to some plastics can reduce the amount of peptide in solution.
Identity and purity are established with reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry. Chromatographic profiles reveal related impurities, truncated sequences, and oxidation products, while mass measurement confirms the expected molecular mass. Purity values for research material are typically reported as a percentage by peak area. Reference standards help calibrate retention behavior across instruments. Independent laboratories emphasize method suitability because results depend heavily on column chemistry, gradient, and detection wavelength. Batch-to-batch comparison relies on the same validated method.

Published information places retatrutide in clinical development rather than on the market as an approved therapy. Early-stage and mid-stage trials have examined tolerability and changes in body weight, and larger studies continue to report results over time. Open questions include the durability of effects after treatment stops, the composition of weight lost, and cardiovascular outcomes over long periods. Statements about definitive benefit should therefore be treated as provisional. Regulatory status varies by jurisdiction and changes as applications are reviewed.
Retatrutide is an investigational synthetic peptide designed to activate three distinct receptor systems within a single molecule. Its pharmacological profile combines activity at the glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide receptor, the glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor, and the glucagon receptor. This arrangement places it within a broader class of agents often described as multi-agonists, which contrast with compounds that engage one or two targets. Research interest centers on whether simultaneous signaling produces effects that single-receptor agonists cannot achieve alone. A single molecular entity also simplifies manufacturing and delivery logistics compared with combining separate agents.
Mechanistic proposals link each receptor to a different physiological role. Activation of the glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide and glucagon-like peptide-1 receptors is associated with reduced appetite, slower gastric emptying, and glucose-dependent insulin release. Glucagon receptor signaling, by contrast, is associated with increased energy expenditure and altered lipid handling, though it can also raise blood glucose. The design intent is to balance these contributions so that weight reduction is enhanced without unacceptable glycemic trade-offs. How well that balance holds across individuals is not fully resolved.
Material handling focuses on limiting degradation. Lyophilized powder is generally stored at reduced temperature, often around minus twenty degrees Celsius, protected from light and moisture. Once dissolved, the peptide is less stable and is commonly kept cold and used within a short window. Repeated freeze-thaw cycles promote aggregation and should be avoided. Buffers and pH influence stability, and solution conditions are usually selected to keep the peptide near neutral pH where degradation proceeds more slowly. These practices apply to laboratory reference material, not to clinical preparations.
Verification of research-grade material depends on documentation supplied with a sample. A certificate of analysis lists purity, identity, and the methods used to establish each value. Buyers comparing suppliers look at chromatographic purity figures, mass confirmation data, and whether methods are described in enough detail to be reproduced. Independent testing can confirm reported values but adds cost and time. Because the research chemical market is not uniformly regulated, provenance and documentation quality vary widely, and claims should be evaluated against raw data rather than summary labels.

Nonmetals tend to form covalent molecular bromides, as do metals in high oxidation states from +3 and above. Both ionic and covalent bromides are known for metals in oxidation state +3 (e.g. scandium bromide is mostly ionic, but aluminium bromide is not). Silver bromide is very insoluble in water and is thus often used as a qualitative test for bromine.

=== Possible health risks === Some evidence suggests that T. molitor may pose a health risk, as humans and animals can consume the eggs and larvae of the beetle with grain-based food. Although they are usually either digested or are excreted with feces, sometimes, they are able to survive and live in the alimentary tract. The first cases of T. molitor larvae in human organs date back to the 19th century, where their presence was observed in the gastrointestinal tract, including the stomach and intestines. There were other cases, such as a reported ulcer infestation of T. molitor in an AIDS patient and a concerned urinary canthariasis in a ten-year-old boy in Iran in 2019, which was the last reported human case of canthariasis caused by T. molitor. However, there are very few reported cases of live larvae in animals, and there are no reports of gastrointestinal canthariasis in farm animals. A study analysing the results of patients in Poland for the presence of specific IgE antibodies to the mealworm was conducted prior to its widespread introduction as a food ingredient. Sensitisation to the mealworm was detected in 4.3% of the patients, with monosensitisation occurring rarely and affecting 0.7% of this group. It was determined that the presence of antibodies to the mealworm most often co-occurs with sensitization to other edible insects, such as the house cricket and the migratory locust, as well as to tropomyosins from shrimp and house dust mites. The primary or cross-sensitization may differ in different populations depending on the dietary habits or geographical zone.
=== Infantile-Onset (IOPD) === The infantile-onset (IOPD) form usually comes to medical attention within the first few months of life, either clinically or through newborn screening. The usual presenting features are cardiomyopathy, cardiomegaly, hypotonia, respiratory distress, muscle weakness, feeding difficulties, and failure to thrive. IOPD patients can be further classified by Cross-Reactive Immunological Material (CRIM) status which is an important predictor of clinical response. Patients that produce no GAA protein are referred to as CRIM negative. Therefore, they can develop highly sustained antibody titers for enzyme replacement therapy (ERT). Immunomodulation or immunotherapy is an effective treatment to prevent an immune response to ERT. The main clinical findings include floppy baby appearance, delayed motor milestones, and feeding difficulties. Moderate hepatomegaly may or may not be present. Facial features include macroglossia, hypernasal speech, hearing loss, and myopathic facies. Cardiopulmonary involvement is manifested by increased respiratory rate, use of accessory muscles for respiration, recurrent chest infections, decreased air entry in the left lower zone (due to cardiomegaly), arrhythmias, and evidence of heart failure. Before the development of a treatment, the median age at death in untreated cases was 8.7 months, usually due to cardiorespiratory failure. However, this outcome has drastically changed since enzyme replacement therapy became available, improving with early initiation of treatment.
==== 1947–1965 ==== The United States under the Truman administration leaned towards favouring India in the late-1940s as a consequence of most U.S. planners seeing India more valuable diplomatically than neighboring Pakistan. However, during the Cold War, Nehru's policy of neutrality was cumbersome to many American observers. American officials perceived India's policy of non-alignment negatively. Ambassador Henry F. Grady told then-Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru that the United States did not consider neutrality to be an acceptable position. Grady told the State Department in December 1947 that he had informed Nehru "that this is a question that cannot be straddled and that India should get on the democratic side immediately". In 1948, Nehru rejected American suggestions for resolving the Kashmir crisis via third party mediation. Nehru's 1949 tour of the United States was "an undiplomatic disaster" that left bad feelings on both sides. Nehru and his top aide V. K. Krishna Menon discussed whether India should "align with United States 'somewhat' and build up our economic and military strength." The Truman administration was quite favorable and indicated it would give Nehru anything he asked for. Nehru refused, and thereby forfeited the chance for a gift of one million tons of wheat.
Beginning in the 11th century, European soldiers and knights relied on chain mail for protection of their bodies, and chain armor "shirts" with wide sleeves that hung to the elbow were common. However, it wasn't until the 12th century that chain mail shirts with longer, narrower sleeves began to be worn, and these on occasion had chain mail mittens or "muffs" resembling fingerless gloves and with a pocket for the thumb (though some of these did have complete fingers as well). These attached at the lower edge of the sleeve, and protected the wearer's hands from cuts and lacerations during combat but offered no protection against crushing blows. It wasn't until the early 14th century that armorers began to design fully articulated plate armor: along with this development of the use of plates as a means of protecting the body from blows was the development of hand protection in the form of gauntlets made of overlapping plates of steel. These were created both in the fingerless "mitten" style (which offered plate armor protection and allowed the fingers to share heat but limited the wearer's ability to move those fingers) as well as the fully fingered "glove" style (which though still ungainly and less comfortable in cold weather, permitted full use of all of the fingers). A variety of gauntlet called a "demi-gauntlet" or "demi-gaunt" also came into use around this time. A demi-gaunt is a type of plate armour gauntlet that only protects the back of the hand and the wrist: demi-gaunts are worn with gloves made from chain mail or padded leather.

Makalat (The Articles), where the concept of four gates (sharia, tariqa, marifa, haqiqa) originate from, is according to Bektashis it was written by Haji Bektash Veli himself and by his order translated into local languages from Arabic in oral form and therefore in this form it is considered a central scripture. The 1960s and 1970s saw a great deal of activity (and expenditure) in the recovery of manganese nodules from the abyssal plains, with varying degrees of success. This does demonstrate, however, that the recovery of minerals from the seafloor is possible and has been possible for some time. Mining of manganese nodules served as a cover story for the elaborate attempt in 1974 by the CIA to raise the sunken Soviet submarine K-129 using the Glomar Explorer, a ship purpose-built for the task by Howard Hughes. The operation was known as Project Azorian, and the cover story of seafloor mining of manganese nodules may have served as the impetus to propel other companies to make the attempt.
==== Tumor antigens ==== Tumor antigens are those antigens that are presented by MHC class I or MHC class II molecules on the surface of tumor cells. Antigens found only on such cells are called tumor-specific antigens (TSAs) and generally result from a tumor-specific mutation. More common are antigens that are presented by tumor cells and normal cells, called tumor-associated antigens (TAAs). Cytotoxic T lymphocytes that recognize these antigens may be able to destroy tumor cells. Tumor antigens can appear on the surface of the tumor in the form of, for example, a mutated receptor, in which case they are recognized by B cells. For human tumors without a viral etiology, novel peptides (neo-epitopes) are created by tumor-specific DNA alterations.

No. It remains investigational, and phase 3 results have not been fully published or reviewed by regulators. Official approval status should be confirmed through regulatory agencies rather than secondary sources.
The added glucagon receptor activity is the main difference in its mechanism. Whether that addition produces meaningful benefits in clinical outcomes is still being studied. Comparisons between compounds rest largely on indirect rather than head-to-head trial data.
